
Don't wait until the Games are 7,000 miles away to get to them....
Twelve years ago, I sat in front of my TV watching runner Michael Johnson crush the 400 meter world record at the Atlanta Olympics. I was 800 miles away. Eight years ago, I sat in front of my television as Michelle Kwan failed to win the gold medal in her last Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was 1400 miles away. Four years ago, I sat in my Paris apartment and as I watched the Turin, Italy Winter Games, I saw all the empty seats. I was 363 miles away.
It wasn’t until the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games that I actually got my behind physically to the Games. I flew 7,000 miles and spent an ungodly amount of money on flight airfare…at least the Games tickets were cheap.
The moral of my plight: If you are within 2000 miles of ANY Olympic Games, then do yourself a favor and go to them. The Games in Vancouver, Canado start Feb. 12 and go until February 28, so you still have time to plan a quick trip.
For us folks in North America, the Vancouver Olympic Games will be the closest Games for sometime. London in 2012. Sochi, Russia in 2014 and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. Do you get the picture?

1) The Olympic Games are GREAT: The Winter Olympic Games brings together the world’s best athletes. When people come together for something so noble, people are on a spiritual high. Everybody smiles. Everybody is open. And the sports rock!
